Family Photo Outfit Inspiration: Baby Girl

Family

Little girls are definitely at the top of my list of favorite models. They are so much fun to dress up because there are so many options that you can play around with! You have endless accessory options such as bows, headbands, bracelets, tights, and the CUTEST little shoes. Today I am sharing some outfit inspiration for the baby girls in your life. Two things that you can never go wrong with are rompers and layers. Rompers alone are perfect for summer evening sessions, and fall and winter sessions are made for layering with cute tights and cardigans.

Look for materials such as linen, gauze or knit.

Here are a few materials I think should be avoided for family photo outfits:

  • Tulle. I generally don’t recommend tulle unless it is a very light and subtle layer. The only time that I would encourage tulle is if everyone is going super formal.
  • Jersey. I also recommend avoiding jersey material unless it has cute sleeves with a little volume or you’re layering it. Jersey is generally a very stretchy material that clings to the skin, which is not a great look on babies. When layered with a cardigan or jacket, it photographs much better. Adding volume to the clothing with layers or details helps bring the photo to life!
  • Logos. While this isn’t a material, I think it deserves a spot on our list of things to avoid. Wearing clothing with large logos or emblems is not a good choice for portraits. Especially on a child, a logo or graphic tee will easily draw attention from your baby’s cute face to the design to their outfit.

Here is a list of my favorite places to shop for baby girl outfits:

Zara Kids | Zara is the perfect place to find modern kids’ clothing for all ages. Their baby section, however, is one of my favorites.

H&M Kids | H&M is a great option when you don’t have time to shop online. Most malls have an H&M store, and they are typically stocked with cute and simple children’s outfits.

Fin & Vince | This site has the absolute cutest baby clothes. Their knit outfits are unique and simple, and always photograph very well.

Little Cottonwood | Little Cottonwood is the perfect place to shop for matching mommy-and-me dresses.

Modern Piggy | This is my favorite spot to shop for little girl accessories. Their bows and hair clips are adorable and take baby portraits to the next level of cuteness.

Ivy City Co  | This Utah-based company is another great place to find mommy-and-me outfits. They do not always have little baby gear, but the baby clothes that they do release are worth the wait!
