Putting Together An Heirloom Album After Your Photo Session

Family, Wedding

Today, I am talking about one of my favorite products that I offer: heirloom albums. I have such fond memories of looking through my family photo albums as a kid. It is so special to sit down and recount stories and memories with your loved ones. Now that technology has come as far as it has, photo albums have become less popular. But I can assure you, there is something different about holding a tangible photo in your hands vs. seeing it on a screen. And lucky for you, I have streamlined the album-making process so that it is quick and easy for you to create and print an album full of your favorite portraits.

Creating your album

Following your session, we’ll schedule a Zoom call where you’ll get to look through your photos for the first time. During this meeting, we will put together an album for your family session or wedding. Together, we will go through your favorite images from the session and create the album of your dreams! I have a program that helps this process go by quickly, but it helps to have you there to provide immediate feedback on what you do and do not like so that we can get your album to you as quickly as possible instead of emailing back and forth for days. Usually family albums can be put together with 10–15 spreads, but I’ve found that weddings usually require at least 30 spreads at a minimum.

There are so many beautiful design options for your album as well. I have several covers and debossing options for you to choose from. If you’re not ready to buy right after the session, that’s okay! I save the album design, and if you want to purchase it five or ten years from now, that’s fine by me; it will be there for you when you’re ready to order.

Printing photos

As I mentioned before, there is something special about having printed photos to view. Albums are so fun to look through with your littles, but printing photos for decorating is also a must. Hanging family portraits and memories on the walls can truly turn your house into a home.

In addition to the heirloom albums, I also offer canvases and prints that come included with your digital gallery. You can order directly from your home, and they will be delivered right to your doorstep. As far as where to print your photos, I highly recommend having them printed professionally. Professional prints are better quality than the prints from Walmart or Walgreens, and while they do cost a little more, they are so worth it. Think of all the time you’ve spent choosing outfits, locations, and even physically getting your kids and grooms to the session! You deserve to see these beautiful portraits that you worked so hard for on a daily basis. If you leave me a review after your session, I’ll give you a code to use for a couple free prints, and that’s one way to try it and see the difference there is with color and the quality of the paper.

I love to help clients choose exactly where to place their prints in their homes. When we get together, I’ll have you send me a cell phone photo of an area in your house where you want to hang photos, and we can create a mockup so that you can see what your favorite photos will look like in your home!
