Why Engagement Photos Are a Must-Have

Enagagements

Let’s chat engagement photos!

While I love working with families, there is something so fun about newly engaged couples. The magical feeling of being newly in love with your person is so rewarding to capture. I love my engagement sessions!

I am a big believer that every couple deserves to have engagement photos. There are so many reasons why I always recommend them (we’ll dive more into that later!) but mostly I love that they give couples a chance to celebrate being engaged.

The months before you tie the knot are so busy with wedding planning and preparations, that you might feel like you just want to skip ahead to the big day. But it’s so important that you take some time to just enjoy being together in your current phase of life. After you’ve been married for a few years, you’ll look back and love that you took the time to savor the precious fleeting moments of your engagement.

Engagement photos are a great way to slow down and have fun together, while also getting beautiful photos that celebrate your relationship. I strive to make the process enjoyable and comfortable for everyone, whether you love being in front of the camera or you’re more of a behind-the-scenes type of person. Engagement photos are something that you should look forward to!

In my professional opinion, everyone deserves photos that they look and feel their best in.

There are lots of other benefits to taking engagement photos, some of which you might not have thought of before.

They help you get comfortable in front of the camera.

It’s completely normal to feel hesitant about stepping in front of the camera to have your photo taken. Engagement photos are a great time to learn to shake out the nerves and just focus on natural interactions with your partner. I’ll be there to support and guide you!

They’re the perfect time to get to know your photographer.

As your photographer, I would love to be your friend through the entire wedding process. Taking engagements gives us a chance to get to know one another in a casual environment, without the added pressure of wedding festivities. We can have fun, chat, and just hang out.

They give you updated photos to share.

Adding an engagement photo to your wedding invitations is such a fun tradition and a great use for the photos from your gallery. I also love it when couples add their engagement photos to their wedding website and incorporate them into their reception decor.

They’re a great opportunity for a hair and makeup trial run.

Whether you’re working with a professional hair and makeup artist or you’re doing them by yourself, you won’t regret planning a trial run before the big day. Engagement photos are a great opportunity for that because they will give you a sense of how your ensemble will appear in photographs.

To sum it up – I just love engagement photos. They’re so fun for me and my couples! It’s so sweet to watch the excitement in each couple’s eyes as the wedding day approaches and things start to feel more real. I’m so grateful to play a part in that beautiful process!
